I’ve been working for newspapers since I was a freshman in high school. After writing for the local weekly newspaper in my hometown, Colleyville, Texas, the summer before I began high school, I was hooked. I wrote for the Colleyville Heritage High School Roaring Red newspaper, where I started dabbling in multimedia and online reporting.
I completed two summer internships with The Dallas Morning News and dallasnews.com during high school. There, I strengthened my web journalism skills and learned how to engage audiences online with news sites. Last summer, I was in Washington with the Institute on Political Journalism and reporting for the Gannett Washington Bureau and USA TODAY.
I’m an Ernie Pyle Scholar at the Indiana University School of Journalism. I’ve been the multimedia editor and political reporter for the Indiana Daily Student and was web editor of the Daily Student last fall. In August, I will take the helm as editor-in-chief.
I was the president of the Indiana Collegiate Press Association for the 2011-2012 year.
I’m a homebrewer and write a craft beer blog in my spare time.
