What better way to represent a new nation than to have Carmen Electra as an ambassador? Just the name alone draws attention, stopping men in their tracks, who associate her name as a sex symbol of American pop-culture.
Recently,Carmen Electra participated in the inauguration of New Orleans,La.,as an official outpost to CuervoNation,by leading a team of winning contestants on a spy-themed challenge in which one winner will win the key to the island of CuervoNation for one week.
CuervoNation, established in 1996 on an eight-acre island located in the Caribbean,is the newest tourist hot spot for thrill-seekers and vacation enthusiasts.
Jose Cuervo Tequila, the largest selling tequila brand in the world, has established a nation that has expanded its territory to five designated locations around the world.
“I received a phone call from my manager and was asked if I would be interested in be interested in being a part of the nation,” said Electra. “I've never been to the island but it sounds like a lot of fun.”
Electra was in New Orleans on Nov. 9,to inaugurate the group of contestant winners as official citizens and led them through a Mission Impossible-type challenge that involved such activities as rappelling from a six-story building and placing bugging equipment in unsuspecting operatives.
“It was like playing James Bond for a day,I crawled in and out through laser beams and stuck my hand in a bucket of snakes,” said Electra. “But,I didn't get to rappel from the building because I am wearing high heels.”
Besides being an ambassador, the former Baywatch babe recently returned from Hawaii where she was filming for the Baywatch reunion made-for-TV movie.
“That was fun and new,” said Electra. “I had the chance to work with cast members I had not gotten to work with before.”
Electra has spread her talent across the board, starting as a singer and dancer and then venturing into acting by appearing in several feature films such as “Scary Movie,” and “Get Over It.”
“I did everything backwards,I was a dancer and a singer and now I'm acting. I had to take acting lessons before so it's been hard but challenging,” said Electra.
She has also explored the independent film scene by appearing in “Sol Goode,” and “Perfume,” which made its debut in the 2001 Sundance Film Festival.
“You never know what's going to happen with indie (independent),films, some you see and some you don't…some get released in the theatres and some go straight to video,” said Electra.
Electra has been keeping busy by continuing her film career with several up coming films such as independent feature,“Wet Work,” an action -comedy,“Rent Control,” and Miramax's dark-comedy with co-star Christian Slater,“The Guest,” which is due out for release in February.
“Over time you really find out what you're comfortable with,” said Electra. “I love doing comedy,I love to make people laugh. You never know what you'll get into with comedy.”
And if movies, modeling and being an ambassador wasn't enough, the 5'4,110-pound ex-Playboy cover girl also has claimed her status as a host to a variety of TV shows such as MTV’s “Singled Out,” and is now co-hosting “Battle Bots,” and “Living Large.” Which, according to Electra is like “Life Styles of the Rich and Famous meets MTV Cribs and Maxim magazine.”
With so much penciled into her schedule, one might wonder if it's too much and if Electra has time for Electra. She is experiencing a craving for a new objective, the craving for a family.
“My heart tells me I'm ready for kids but my mind tells me to keep working,” said Electra indecisively. “But really I want to start listening to my heart.”
The Ohio native has been through some difficult relationships but finds that the experience has helped develop a brighter sense of what she wants.
“I've been through some bad relationships but such is life, you live and learn,” said Electra confidently.
As for her recent relationship with rock musician,Dave Navarro, she is finding herself embarking on new emotions. “But this one does feel different,I've never had feelings like this for someone,I've never experienced this love before.”
Electra, who met Navarro on a blind date that was set up by a mutual friend, plans to sit down with her soon to be husband and set a wedding date for some time next year.
“It was love at first sight,” said Electra. “We're looking at having the wedding in Hawaii or Los Angeles.”
Although with any celebrity marriage, schedules and timing is something that is always a major factor.
“We each have our own thing going on,we stay busy and have our time apart which I think is healthy for a relationship,” said Electra “But living together has been wonderful because at the end of the day it's nice to know that you have someone to go home to. That's a comfortable feeling.”
While conquering goals and setting new horizons,Electra seems to be ready to take on the most challenging of tasks, children.
“It's a funny feeling and so new,my body's changing and as a woman I'm getting these new emotions for becoming a mom,” said Electra. “I'm looking forward to having kids,I hope to have two.”
Although a “workaholic,” Electra seems to be convinced that she is ready to assume the 24-7 role of a mother.
“Every time I see a baby,I get so excited,I just want to hold them,” said Electra enthusiastically. “It's just so new and different.”
Between the duties of being a multi-talented asset in the entertainment industry and that of setting a course to venture the uncharted waters of motherhood,Carmen Electra has established that her beauty truly runs is more than skin deep.
“Every since I was a little girl,my dream was to be an independent woman and I just wanted to work hard at that goal,” said Electra recalling her childhood aspiration. “For the future I defiantly want to have children and keep working,I really like to stay busy…I love to work.”
