White House -- 200 Years of History, Trivia

With the help of a President John Adams look-alike who looked a lot like Ben Franklin, the U.S. Postal Service officially unveiled the stamp design commemorating the 200th anniversary of the White House.

The 33-cent stamp features photo of the front of the White House on a snowy day. About 125 million stamps will be printed.

Adams was the first president to move into the then President's House or "Washington's palace" on Nov. 1, 1800. When he moved in, it was located near a swamp and was never finished. Half the buildings lacked plaster, only one of the three staircases were build, and scaffolds still lay against basement walls.
