WASHINGTON – The spirit of Southeast Nebraska thrives in at least one Senator's office on Capitol Hill.
Sen. Chuck Hagel employs an unusually high number of Gage County natives. Three members of his staff, including his chief of staff, are originally from the Beatrice area.
During a recent phone interview, Hagel said the region is “well represented” by policy adviser Nathan Mick, chief of staff Lou Ann Linehan and her executive assistant, Laura Maurstad.
“They have tremendous judgment, work ethic and that extra little zip and charm and twinkle,” said Hagel, a North Platte native.
