Farrakhan calls for unity at Million Family March

Thousands heeded the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan's call to unity on Oct. 16 at the nation's capital.

After a national promotional tour, tens upon thousands of families flew, drove and rode to the Mall in search of peace, solidarity and atonement. They came under the motto, "We come as many, we leave as one."

The march looked more like a festival or camping retreat by the look of folks on the Mall's lawn stretched out on their blankets or the sight of those mixing from vendor to vendor on Constitution Avenue. The UniverSoul Circus entertained children with painted-faces while joggers ran through the crowd. More than 100 couples exchanged or renewed vows on one of three stages – at the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial and the Ellipse behind the White House.
