Dolly Parton, zoo celebrate eagles' new home

WASHINGTON -- The beavers, seals and river otters at the National Zoo have two new neighbors -- and Dolly Parton helped them move in.

Tioga and Sam are the headliners of the new Bald Eagle Refuge exhibit that opened to the public Wednesday, also with Parton's help. The eagles came from the American Eagle Foundation rehabilitation center located at Parton's Dollywood entertainment park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

“Sam is the girl, and Tioga is the boy,” said Parton, legendary country music singer and actress.

And how did she know? “Don't ask, don't tell,” joked Parton, who was decked out for the pre-Independence Day ribbon cutting ceremony in red high heels and a sparkly flag-themed dress.
