WASHINGTON - Princess Zulu, 31, recounted how she lost her parents and a sibling when she was 17. They died of AIDS.
In 1997, she herself tested positive for HIV in her native country, Zambia.
"Children are the faces of HIV/AIDS. Many are orphaned and forced to head households like I was," said Zulu, who now lives in Chicago.
She was among other witnesses who testified Tuesday at a hearing on "Meeting the Global Challenge of AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria" before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
