So long to the men who thought fishing could never be considered a woman's sport. Fishing has become more popular with women and now Angling Unlimited, "Alaska's leading saltwater and fly-fishing outfitter," is offering the first annual "Gone Fishing Package," exclusively for women.
Tom Ohaus, owner and operator of Angling Unlimited, said that the idea for this trip came about because it seemed that men often book the trips and women come along with them. The men often feel it necessary to dote and over-instruct the women they bring on the trips, Ohaus said. "I thought that the women fishing with each other might feel a bit more free to enjoy the trip "their way" instead of having someone else's experience of Alaska fishing pushed on them.
