WASHINGTON - The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs started a yearlong series of hearings Wednesday focused on ways to improve the detection and prevention of terrorist financing.
“As these hearings progress, the committee will explore all aspects of the terror finance issue,” said Sen. Richard C. Shelby, R-Ala., chairman of the committee. “It will be important to educate the American people about the complexity of addressing the demands of cutting funds from the terrorist wherever he is located and whatever cause he avows.”
Government officials testifying before the committee presented their progress on fighting against terrorism financing.
