SHFWire is a fast-paced internship for undergraduate college journalism students who want to experience writing for a wire service. The program conducts four sessions a year in the Scripps Howard Foundation's Washington news bureau.
Six students each session, including one international student, receive free housing in apartments in Northwest Washington. They receive a stipend ($2,350 for spring and fall students, $1,800 for summer students and $500 for the Hampton University program) and work as reporters for the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire.
Winter and fall sessions are 14 weeks, the summer session is 10 weeks and the Hampton session is four weeks.
Visit the Scripps Howard Foundation Web site to learn about the foundation's other programs.
